Drop Loot is a loot matching, synergy chaining, monster exploding... roguelike puzzle dungeon crawler.

Drop pairs of loot to build the board, then chain matches to slay the monsters and set off insane domino effects.

Think falling block games like Puyo Puyo and Baku Baku Animal with the run-based deck and power building of Slay the Spire and Balatro, on top of the turn-based combat of a dungeon crawler... with a particle system that turns the screen into a fireworks show.

Upgrade in the shops, stack game-changing powers, and hunt for the synergy that breaks the dungeon... before it breaks you.

How deep can you go?

This is the early playtest build of Drop Loot. In this version, you can expect to find:

  • Endless depths that get nastier the deeper you dig
  • Dozens of shop items and stackable powers, with synergies to discover
  • Bosses with signature attacks that force you to adapt
  • Chunky hand-drawn pixel art and a grimy dungeon vibe
  • Three original atmospheric tracks by Abstraction
  • Keyboard, mouse, touch and gamepad support
  • Incredibly satisfying chain reactions... roguelike ASMR!

In future versions, you can expect:

  • Finished sprites and animations for every power and enemy
  • More monsters and bosses, each with unique attacks and powers
  • Characters with their own loadouts
  • Modes and challenges
  • iOS, Android and Steam releases
  • ???: the dungeon goes deeper than you think...

Enemies (and bosses) display their health (HP) in green, attack damage in red, and any armor in blue. Armor absorbs every hit before HP starts dropping, so an enemy with 2 armor takes two extra hits before its HP actually drops.

Weapons (sword, bow, bomb) display their damage-per-tile, so a 3-sword cluster touching an enemy hits for 3× damage. Hearts show HP healed per tile, shields show armor gained, coins show gold value.

Anything tinted gold is a crit damage, which will display a doubled damage value.

Match 2+ of any loot type to clear them. Weapons only hit when touching enemies (except bows, which match and fire long range).

CREDITS

Every sprite (character, item, enemy, boss) is hand-drawn and hand-animated in Photoshop (WIP!).

Dungeon tileset by embey (modified and animated). Music by Abstraction. Most SFX from Heltonyan and all others are free use.

This is a really original twist on the Tetris formula. The loot and strategy elements make it feel fresh while still being instantly understandable. Very clever and fun idea — great work!

My main "issue" is that I feel like there are not enough chest or Keys? Like, sometimes I get a bunch of Keys and no chest or the opposite.

I’ll take a look - pure RNG can manifest weirdly sometimes. There are specific shop items that can benefit matching keys with no chests too, it can cause some fun combos!
